HIGH SCHOOL TRAVEL

HIGH SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY

The Northwest Montana Youth Hockey Association High School Program is designed to provide age-appropriate competitive opportunities while continuing to prioritize player development, character, and a lifelong passion for the game.

At the high school level, competition becomes a greater emphasis as players prepare for advanced opportunities in hockey and life. Players are expected to demonstrate commitment, accountability, teamwork, and a strong work ethic both on and off the ice.

Junior Varsity (JV) BSHS

The Junior Varsity program serves as a developmental pathway for players who are continuing to build their skills, hockey IQ, confidence, and game experience. The focus is on advancing individual development, reinforcing team concepts, and preparing players for future Varsity opportunities. While competition is important, player growth and meaningful game experience remain primary objectives.

Varsity MTHS

The Varsity program is designed for the association's most skilled and competitive players. The focus shifts toward achieving team success while continuing to advance individual development. Players earn roles and opportunities based on skill, effort, attitude, attendance, and team needs. Competition for ice time and positions is expected, and playing time may vary based on game situations, performance, and coaching decisions.

Our Commitment

Both JV and Varsity teams operate within the principles of the USA Hockey American Development Model (ADM), emphasizing skill development, hockey sense, athletic growth, sportsmanship, and respect for teammates, opponents, officials, and the game.

Our goal is to develop confident, competitive athletes who are prepared for the next level of hockey while fostering leadership, resilience, accountability, and a lifelong love of the sport.
