YOUTH HOCKEY OVERVIEW

LEARN TO SKATE

Learn-to-Skate USA (LTSUSA) is the first stepping stone to start one's journey in figure skating, hockey, or recreational skating. LTSUSA's curriculum is endorsed by US Figure Skating, USA Hockey, and US Speedskating. Our program is designed for beginners of all ages who want to learn basic skating skills. Ice skating can be a lifelong sport that creates friendships, and builds confidence and discipline while gaining new life experiences.

Glacier Skate Academy operates at Stumptown Ice Den in Whitefish, MT. Glacier Skate runs Learn to Skate programming multiple times a year.

Kalispell Parks & Rec operates at Woodland Ice Rink in Kalispell, MT. Designed for beginners of all ages, this program focuses on fun, participation, and the development of fundamental skating skills. Lessons are taught in a group setting and emphasize the basics needed for both recreational skating and youth hockey. Sessions available December thru February.

LEARN TO PLAY

Northwest Montana Youth Hockey Association is excited to partner with the Seattle Kraken NHL© franchise in offering NHL & NHLPA Learn to Play programming. Players (ages 5 to 9) are introduced to the fundamentals of skating before progressing to stick handling, passing, and shooting through an 6-8 week session. Kids learn these skills through fun skating drills and games taught by our certified USA Hockey coaches. Players will receive a full set of gear, skates and a stick to start their hockey career.

*Players have graduated Learn to Skate at a minimum of a Basic 3 skill level.
