BANTAM PHILOSOPHY
We are excited to welcome you to the upcoming season. Our goal is to provide a positive, fun, and development-focused environment where players can grow as athletes, teammates, and individuals.
At the 14U level, players continue to develop hockey-specific skills, strength, speed, stamina, and game awareness while building the habits necessary for long-term success. While competition becomes more important at these ages, our primary focus remains on player development, confidence, effort, and continuous improvement.
NMYHA follows the USA Hockey American Development Model (ADM), emphasizing age-appropriate training, skill development, and a lifelong love of the game. We encourage players to challenge themselves, work hard, support their teammates, and embrace both success and adversity as opportunities to learn and grow.
Youth hockey is about more than wins and losses. It is about developing character, work ethic, leadership, resilience, and sportsmanship in a safe and supportive environment. Coaches are committed to preparing every player for success through quality instruction, meaningful opportunities, and a team-first approach.
As a USA Hockey-affiliated association, all coaches are properly certified, and all players must maintain a current USA Hockey membership to participate.

2026-2027 SEASON OVERVIEW
Practices
3 PRACTICES/WEEK
Practices will be at both Stumptown Ice Den and Woodland Ice Center.
*Practices start 9/29
*Additional weekend practices will be scheduled to make up for November opening of Woodland.
*Christmas Break Dec 21 - Jan 2
Games & Tournaments
- League Games: 14U teams will participate in the Treasure State League which will include 16 regular season games (8 home, 8 away) and the end of season State Championship Tournament.
- EKL Add-On: U15 EKL will participate in approximately 9 regular season games scheduled in jamboree format and the end of season Banner Championship Tournament.
- Tournaments: 14U teams will participate in an additional 3 tournaments for the season. Tournament commitments will be discussed at the beginning of the season.
*NMYHA has no control over the final game brackets from either TSL or EKL. Game totals are subject to change at the discrection of those leagues. League fees do not change based on those changes.

Tournament Costs
Additional tournament fees will be determined by tournament participation. Families can anticipate approximately an additional $100 per tournament per player.
